Medical Residents Equipped for a Healthier Future
|
|
Dignity Health East Valley welcomed 28 new medical residents to our medical centers this summer through our new Graduate Medical Education program. These budding practitioners signify hope for a healthier future, especially for our East Valley, rural and tribal communities. Through our partnership with Arizona Lottery Gives Back, we have equipped each resident with a new portable ultrasound device. This revolutionary tool, likened to the "new stethoscope," will enable rapid diagnoses leading to prompt intervention and treatment - all within the primary care and outpatient setting. With the ability to provide state-of-the-art imaging accessible on a cell phone, these devices will undoubtedly enhance care and improve outcomes for patients.
Our medical residents, who are currently receiving training on these devices, will bring this cutting-edge technology to the bedside and clinics across our community. Many thanks to the Arizona Lottery and other community partners for bringing this new technology to help shape the future of health care in the East Valley.

AZSTA Provides Hydration Systems to Student Athletes |
Dignity Health East Valley has been at the forefront of providing exceptional sports medicine care to the youth of Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek, and Maricopa since 2014. We proudly serve over 22,000 students across 23 junior high and high schools, offering them collegiate-level athletic training and sports injury management.
Our community-based program is not just about treating injuries; it's about education and prevention. We train and educate student athletes about vital elements such as nutrition, heat-related issues, and concussion awareness.
The Sports Medicine program is dependent upon the support of many community partners, including a recent grant received from Arizona Sports & Tourism Authority (AZSTA). The Sports Medicine programs will soon be equipped with new commercial-grade hydration and cooling equipment which will allow for more efficient and effective hydration and injurty treatment - especially during times when student atheletes are most at-risk of suffering heat-related injury.

Spreading Kindness with Handmade Cards |
During the challenging times of the pandemic, Scrapbook.com generously gifted our hospital teams with handmade cards, which were donated by their dedicated and compassionate customers. Since then, their support has been unwavering as they continue to donate thousands of cards each year with themes ranging from birthdays and gratitude to sympathy and more through their "Cards for Kindness" program.
These beautiful handmade cards are distributed to department leaders throughout Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers. From patients fighting battles to clinical and administrative staff and volunteers who work tirelessly every day to care for others, these heartfelt creations find their way into the hands and hearts of those who need them most.
Thank you to the team and many volunteers at Scrapbook.com who serve as champions for kindness. These cards provide staff with beautiful cards which have a ripple effect of spreading joy to patients and staff throughout our organization.

Every act of humankindness is worthy of celebration and every expression of gratitude deserves recognition. |
Dignity Health East Valley's Guardian Angel program provides a unique way for patients or family members to recognize a physician, nurse, housekeeper, volunteer, chaplain or other staff member who served them with excellence in every way during their visit or stay. The Foundation is honored to recognize Guardian Angels by presenting them with a card informing them of the donor’s thoughtful gift as well as a custom pin to wear, designating them as a special member of our Community of Caring.
