Say thank you to your doctor

On March 30 we celebrate National Doctors' Day — a day designated to thank doctors. This is an opportunity to pause and recognize their tireless efforts and commitment to your health and the health of your loved ones.

Making a gift to Dignity Health Foundation - East Valley in your physician’s name helps to ensure our doctors are equipped with  state-of-the-art tools, cutting-edge technology, and modern facilities. Your support helps to ensure that our doctors can continue to provide the best possible care for you, your loved ones and our entire community as we work to create a healthier future for all.

Please take a moment to recognize your doctor for the compassion and expertise they showed you.

History

The first Doctors’ Day observance was March 30, 1933, in Winder, GA. The idea was proposed by Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, and the date was the anniversary of the first use of general anesthetic in surgery.

The Barrow County (Georgia) Medical Society Auxiliary proclaimed the day “Doctors’ Day,” which was celebrated by mailing cards to physicians and their wives and by placing flowers on the graves of deceased doctors. The U.S. House of Representatives adopted a resolution commemorating Doctors’ Day on March 30, 1958. In 1990, the U.S. Congress overwhelmingly approved legislation establishing a National Doctors’ Day and you can find the signed resolution on line.

The first National Doctors’ Day was celebrated on March 30, 1991. As we carry the tradition forward,
Dignity Health is fortunate to have some of the brightest and most caring physicians in the world.

Thank you to our team of physicians for providing our patients with the highest-quality care and compassion.
