Dignity Health is partnering with Kids for Peace to sponsor the 2017 Great Kindness Challenge, a global program that aims to inspire students to make a lifelong commitment to service and kindness. Between January 23 - 27, 2017, you are invited to join Dignity Health and make a difference in our hospitals, our local community and beyond.

Dental Clinic Honored by the America Dental Hygienists Association

Little Girl

The Dignity Health Foundation- East Valley welcomed 2017 with a donation by the American Dental Hygienists Association to its First Teeth First Oral Health Program.  It's an honor to be recognized by an association that appreciates the importance of filling this unmet community need.  The program can use all donations by private foundations or private individuals to expand services to those in need in our community.

It might not be widely known that by the third grade, Arizona children have the highest rate of cavities in the U.S. with 40% left untreated.  They also have twice the rate of untreated tooth decay as the U.S. average. The First Teeth First program seeks to reduce the incidence of childhood caries in children through fluoride varnish applications, education, screenings and referrals.  First Teeth First is administered through clinics held at WIC offices, community centers, immunization clinics, family resource centers, health fairs and community events.  The Chandler Children’s Dental Clinic, a free walk-in clinic also provides these critical services.

Until recently, First Teeth First provided oral screening and fluoride applications to children up to 5 years of age.  Now, with the help of the ADHA, it will be able to serve older children 6 to 18 years.  These services are available to all, however, the primary focus is on the uninsured in our community.  Dignity Health recognizes the importance of oral health as an important part of overall health.  Indeed, when children are free from toothaches, they can eat, sleep and learn better!

Womens Philanthropic Society's Annual Fundraising Off to a Great Start!

Amazon The 2017 projects chosen for support by the women of the Power of the Purse are life-changing including 3D mammography equipment, stroke camp, and a project to ensure the timeliness of care in the hospitals. Fundraising for these projects is moving swiftly ahead.

It's not too late to join the first fundraising social of the year on January 29th, 11:15 - 2:00 p.m.  Enjoy a Brunch Social at Las Sendas Golf Course with luxury motor coach transportation from the Mercy Gilbert Healing Garden Parking lot (east side).  RSVP on the Facebook Group or directly to connie.johnston@dignityhealth.org.

The group will also help the community by volunteering at Feed My Starving Children on Feb. 28th @ 5pm, with a social prior at Chipotle http://volunteer.fmsc.org/register with code 1019043.

Welcome to our Newest Partner

Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care and Mercy Care Plan know that the actual delivery of health care services – like medicine and doctor’s appointments – is a small part of a person’s overall health.  They know that good health and wellness begins at home and at school. In our communities and in the workplace. It’s about where and how we live – the so-called “social determinants” – that really shape our health and wellness.  This is a perfect match for partnering with Dignity Health.

Mercy Maricopa and Mercy Care Plan are launching a community health program called Mercy 360 Community to improve access to care, enhance food security and expand housing options. This fits perfectly with the Dignity Health mission to serve the poor and the underserved.  We are proud they have chosen to partner with us to improve the health and wellness of our community.

Thank you donors giving $125+ since the last newsletter. Your tax-deductible gift makes a difference.
