Expanding Children’s Health Services

Appeal Banner

A supremely important goal at Dignity Health and our East Valley Foundation, is ending health disparities for families and children within our community. But, what exactly is a health disparity? Healthy People 2020 report from the government defines this term as “a particular type of health difference that is closely linked with social, economic and/or environmental disadvantages, and adversely affects groups who have experienced greater obstacles to health.”

As part of the effort to improve our outreach and address these inequalities, we are excited to announce the opening of a new, pediatric medical clinic this fall to serve Chandler and the surrounding communities. Our children’s dental clinics have served the Southeast Valley for several years now, and the medical clinic will now expand the range of services available for underserved children. Thank you to all the staff involved in these services.

This significant undertaking was made possible by donations to our Foundation, most recently through the Concert for Humankindness. Through your generosity, we will continue to reach some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Support for Brain Tumor Survivors

The Faith, Hope and Love Brain Tumor Retreat is quickly approaching October 1-3.  Brain tumor survivors and their family members will gather at the beautiful Franciscan Renewal Center in Paradise Valley to experience a weekend full of festivities and fellowship. This weekend promises to be one of laughter, camaraderie and making meaningful connections.

This event is sponsored by friends and supporters of the Faith Hope and Love Foundation which provides support for survivors and loved ones who have faced the diagnosis of a brain tumor. Funds raised go toward brain tumor research, patient and family support and non-medical expense coverage. Thank you to all of the supporters and volunteers. For more information, please contact 480.728.3931.

Families Remember

The loss of an infant can result in tremendous feelings of sorrow and helplessness. Heaven’s Hummingbirds was created by a group of parents who themselves have experienced the premature loss of an infant. They wanted to offer a place of empathy, comfort and healing to other grieving parents and thus the creation of this wonderful group. Help is provided by a very capable and dedicated team in partnership with hospitals, nurses and social workers in the way of support groups and education, as well as resources that provide monetary assistance and counseling. These are just a few of the many ways to help parents on their grief journey.

Events such as the very successful Run/Walk held in May, helped raise funds to continue this important work and to remember the tiny spirits that left so quickly. Contact us today if you are one of these special families and want to safely attend the distanced October 15th Remembrance Ceremonies.

Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in women of all ages, races, shapes and sizes in the United States?  And women often experience heart disease differently than men? For example, women are somewhat less likely than men to experience chest pain, and less likely to have symptoms of coronary heart disease. This is why heart disease and hypertension are referred to as the “Silent Killer” of women. The good news is our Women Heart Champions and Dr. Rachel Bond are here to help. Learn more about their support group and community outreach.
