Do you know what happens when you combine great golf, a great cause, generous prizes and some fantastic volunteers?  A great success! Over 300 people came out to play on a sunny April day in support of quality health care for our community at the 17th Annual George Rozsa Golf Classic on April 18th at Whirlwind Golf Club. The weather may have been warm, yet the day was super fun for players who showed off their golfing skills and athleticism in a variety of games which included the 9-hole Par 3 Golf Tournament (with prizes on every hole),  $1 Million Shoot Out, Cornhole tournament, and Skills Challenges such as: Putting Contest, Long Drive and Glass Break. Although, there was no victor for the $1 Million Shoot Out, there were plenty of contest winners and many awesome prizes.  Below are a few highlights:

First Dignity Health Cup Tournament - golf at DC Ranch and choice of a suite at a professional sporting event (Cardinals, Diamondbacks, Rattlers or Suns) goes to Tom Marreel & John Schaller.

Glass Break Best Team Score - golf at Dove Valley and Whirlwind goes to Terry Fechele & Brad Roerig.

Putting Best Team Score - golf at Trilogy and Whirlwind goes to Ray Meyers & John Smith

Longest Drive Best Team Score - 3 day car rental courtesy of Earnhardt Ford.  Women’s longest drive winners will receive a case of wine courtesy of Cliff Paul/PK Associates and Men’s will get 40,000 airline miles courtesy of the Nelsons going to: Jesse Hafdal & Molly Denton.

Cornhole Best Team Score - custom cornhole boards courtesy of KB Kornhole with two flights and two team winners: Zach Johnson & Mike Ashton and Bill Santisteven and Molly Denton.

A huge “Thank You!” goes out to all the tireless and dedicated volunteers and the all-volunteer 2019 George Rozsa Golf Classic Committee: Carl Nelson, Craig Bradley, David Phares, Teresa Lanham, John Nissen, Nick Pearce, Ivars Vancers, Dave Sobek, Diann Crews, Tom Canale, Joe Stone, Felicia Vandermolen, and Kirk McClure.  They were guided by the able leadership of a special couple, Kristi and Sean Rozsa whose father  we honor at our tournament.  We are also grateful to our local sports teams for their donations of suites, and to the generosity of individuals who contributed some amazing items.

Finally, we want to thank our sponsors who fuel the engine of our efforts, lead by Envision, Heart Health Organization, the Arizona Diamondbacks, bluemedia, and may more (see list on left side).

*All proceeds for this event will support the new Women’s and Children’s Pavilion  at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and the new patient tower at Chandler Regional   Medical Center.
