The Dignity Health team would like to honor the life of an amazing physician, friend and champion for families, James Clifford G. Zozobrado, M.D., FAAP who recently passed away much too young.
Gifts made in memory of Dr. James Zozobrado will help fund a windchime that will be placed in the Butterfly Garden at Chandler Regional Medical Center and a matching windchime gifted to the family on behalf of the Maternal Child Health team (please see Kathy T if you want to donate to the gift for the family). There will also be a leaf placed on the Tree of Life at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in his honor.
James Clifford G. Zozobrado, M.D., FAAP age 56, of Chandler, AZ, died Tuesday, August 2, 2022, in Port Charlotte, Florida. Please link here for the public obituary to learn more information about his amazing life and contributions.
James Clifford Zozobrado was born in 1965, in Cebu City, Philippines, and raised in Cebu where he also received his undergrad in Biology from Velez College in Cebu City in 1996 where he was elected to the Biological Honor Society. With his love of science, James attended the University of the Visayas - Gullas College of Medicine in Cebu City, where he earned his Medical Degree in 1990.
James and his wife Jeanne met in college and later relocated to the U.S. where he completed his Pediatric Residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ where he was Chief Resident for the Department of Pediatrics. James completed his fellowship in Newborn Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine - St Louis Children’s Hospital.
James and his family moved to Arizona where James became the Medical Director and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Chandler Regional Medical Center. As a devot Catholic our culture was a perfect match.
Dr. Zozobrado was instrumental in developing Chandler Regionals Level II EQ NICU. He was also the Medical Director at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and assisted in developing the nursery program to Level II - ESCN. He loved working with the physicians and nurses which he lovingly referred to as his Dignity family.
James was also a staff Neonatologist at hospitals throughout the Phoenix area, He was an Instructor, a member of the Speakers Bureau, and an Assistant Professor. He also donated his time to speak on behalf of our Foundation. He has several additional publications and professional affiliations.
James was known by his colleagues, residents, nurses, and patients as a compassionate, patient, and caring physician. He was a natural-born teacher with the patience to explain in a way for anyone to understand. He had a heart of gold and would never turn anyone down in need. He was concerned with both his patients and with their parents, spending time with them and getting to know them. Parents described him as gracious, caring, and passionate. Always willing to answer questions and calm their fears. He passionately volunteered for our Foundation as well; anything to benefit women and children.
The Philippines was always in James’ heart and will always be his home and thus, his final resting place. Please see his personal obituary for more details or to leave a message for the family.
