GME - Community Outreach
Dignity Health East Valley Physician Residents design and implement a Community Outreach project as part of their residency training. This effort aims to engage physician residents in meaningful community service initiatives. Through volunteer efforts, residents support various community projects and contribute to the well-being of local residents. This program not only fosters a spirit of service among residents but also provides valuable opportunities for them to connect with and positively impact the communities they serve.
Food Box Prescription program:
The “Pantry Perfect: Food Box Prescription Program” is an example of one of these Community Outreach Projects. This program is designed to address food insecurity and provide a weekly healthy food box for vulnerable individuals identified at the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic at Mercy Gilbert and at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
With the help of your generous donation, each patient will receive a free weekly thoughtfully customized box by FrescaZona (costs about $20/box) that contains healthy food options tailored to each patient’s specific dietary needs from diabetes to heart disease. Each box will also contain a pamphlet containing recipe ideas and other valuable information created by a Dignity Health Family Medicine resident physician and the FrescaZona team. Each patient will also be offered an in person or virtual 45 minute session with a certified dietary expert at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
