Zero Suicide Initiative
According to a recent Community Health Needs Assessment, suicide is the eighth leading cause of death for Maricopa County and the area served by Chandler Regional Hospital. It is also currently the leading cause of violent death in Arizona, surpassing motor vehicle crashes. Now more than ever, Dignity Health is committed to providing the best suicide prevention care in our emergency rooms and throughout our hospitals by recognizing, treating and preventing this illness. Our Zero Suicide Initiative was created for this purpose, and we are deeply grateful to Cardinal Health for its generous donation of $100,000 each year for the next two years.
The goal of the Zero Suicide Initiative is to provide a holistic and comprehensive approach to patient safety, to dramatically reduce patient suicides, and improve clinical staff safety and support through its system-wide implementation at Chandler Regional and ultimately, throughout all hospitals. Team members participating in the program are experienced administrators and clinicians working in partnership with the CEO of Arizona Recovers, our community partner. Funding from Cardinal Health will serve to boost our efforts to address this increasing health crisis in our community.
