Community Oral Health Programs - Videos

From the intensive care unit to community health centers, Dignity Health East Valley’s oral health programs provide services for patients at high risk for dental disease.

  • At Chandler Regional Medical Center, dental hygienists provide oral care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit with an advanced airway. This care is critical because patients on a ventilator are at higher risk of developing pneumonia caused by oral bacteria, which can negatively impact patient recovery and healing.
  • The First Teeth First program provides portable services at several East Valley community sites including integration with medical offices. Services focus on oral health screenings for children up to age 6 and expectant mothers along with assisting families with closing gaps in dental care by establishing a dental home.
  • In partnership with the City of Chandler and Town of Gilbert, Dignity Health East Valley provides two dental clinic locations for low-income families.  At the dental clinics, children up to age 21 receive preventive dental services from Affiliated Practice Dental Hygienists. The innovative model increases access to care and improves health outcomes with inclusion of oral health education, goal setting, relationship development with families, and care coordination for restorative dental care.
