2019 President’s Reception Highlights
The Foundation’s sixth annual President’s Reception took place at Arizona State University’s (ASU) state-of-the-art Polytechnic Campus in the East Valley. Dignity Health Foundation and ASU have maintained a solid partnership and been leaders in the East Valley for many years, so the venue was an ideal location for this annual tradition. Prior to the main event, attendees had the opportunity to peruse displays on the patio providing information on current and noteworthy Dignity Health East Valley initiatives including Cardiac Research, our Athletic Trainer program, Deep Brain Stimulation, and also ASU students displays.
The festivities were kicked off by ASU’s Duane Roen, Vice Provost, Polytechnic Campus and Dean, College of Integrative Sciences and Arts; and Dr. Keith Frey, the Chief Physician Executive for Dignity Health in Arizona and a Clinical Professor, College of Health Solutions at ASU.
Aaron Peace, Foundation President, was joined by Mark Slyter, President of CRMC and MGMC, to provide an overview on recent fundraising successes, thank our dedicated volunteers and recognized the efforts of our volunteer Board members. Annual awards for this year were presented in three categories:
- Board Member of the Year: JW Rayhons
- Physician of the Year: Mia Van Eken, MD
- Philanthropists of the Year: Tatum Boller and Kate Mathias
Another tradition includes handing out the Marreel Excellence in Service Awards. These awards are named after Julia and Tom Marreel, long-time supporters of the Dignity Health Foundation. Hand-picked by the family, this year’s winners are:
